A Senate for the Students
By Alyssa Knecht
For any of those who have gone into The Atlas for a warm drink or who have studied in The Atlas, then you have already participated in decisions that have come through Senate. The Atlas, the rock wall, social events, and more have all started out as bills that came through Senate. Senate is a great way for students to get involved with ASWWU. As a senator, you are helping to make decisions that will shape ASWWU now and in the future.
As the executive vice president (EVP), it is my job to facilitate Senate and ensure that each senator is representing the constituents of their district. I also manage the Long-Term Project Fund, which currently has $80,000. This money can only be spent on things that students like you want! Since I will be managing this money along with other members of ASWWU, it is important to me that I am available for you all to reach me with any ideas. You can always reach me through email at firstname.lastname@example.org. Additionally, I will have office hours every Monday and Wednesday from 9-11 a.m. in the ASWWU offices. My door is always open so please don’t hesitate to reach out!
