Hello everyone and happy early Valentines Day! In this issue you will find articles on how to practice self-love, the importance of celebrating platonic friendships, an interview with Dr. Jim Boyd on setting healthy boundaries, and an opinion piece on spotting red and green flags in relationships. Be sure to also check out our article interviewing two WWU students who recently got engaged.

We also have two unique articles on MLK day. One is about why we celebrate MLK and gives an important perspective on his legacy. The second discusses why WWU does not take the day off for MLK day, a topic that has been highly debated among students and staff.

Please also be sure to check out Cameron’s latest creative writing piece (the ending will leave you curious about what is to come) and Ben’s humor article that includes a compatibility quiz.

Oh, and if you’re wondering what’s up with the picture at the top of this article, let me enlighten you. This picture has been my iPhone lock screen for about three years and features myself and my boyfriend Weston Humphries back when we were in high school. In honor of The Collegian’s Valentines-Day issue, I wanted to give him a huge shout-out for being the absolute best!

As Valentines Day rolls around, take some time to make the special people in your life feel extra loved.
