Hello everyone, this week each of our articles is a feature on an international student here at Walla Walla University. The reason we decided to do this is because one year ago on February 24, 2022, Russia invaded Ukraine.  Â
Although this event captured the attention of the entire campus, WWU’s Russian and Ukrainian students were particularly affected. Read our article titled “The Russia-Ukraine War" to not only gain an understanding of the war in general, but also of student Gleb Drumi’s experience as a Russian international student whose life has been greatly impacted by this war. Â
To mark this momentous and historical date, The Collegian has dedicated this issue to international students and their experiences of navigating college life while also being affected by events in their home country. This issue is doubly relevant at this moment in history because of the earthquake that hit Turkey and Syria on February 6, which has killed tens of thousands of people. Â
The experiences of international students are unique and important, and we at The Collegian sincerely hope you take time to read about the experiences of students featured in our articles, students like Ashley Amparano, Kudzai Mhondiwa, Abriel Thuc, and Jonster Lin-ao. Â
This issue also includes a humor article, a sustainability article, and an article written by the candidates in this year’s ASWWU elections that details their platform and why you should vote for them.
