Our Team

Staff Member 1

Ashley Herber

Hello everyone, this is my second year as The Collegian Editor-in-Chief and my job is to make sure everything runs smoothly by managing The Collegian staff, running meetings, and overseeing content creation. I am a senior double major in English and business, I am from the beautiful state of Colorado, I plan to attend law school after graduation, and I enjoy reading, crocheting, working out, and sitting in the sun. This is my fourth year working for The Collegian and I love getting to spend time with my team and trying to make sure that as many voices on campus are heard as possible. If you have any ideas or questions, please email me at collegian@wallawalla.edu.

Judy Lorenz

Hello, my name is Judy and I’m a biology, pre-med major. In an attempt to put my English minor to good use, I’m also a writer for the Collegian. I’m from the San Francisco Bay Area and I’m still acclimating to PNW weather even after two years here. My goals in life include becoming an OBGYN and owning a goat farm. I chose to write for the Collegian to strengthen my writing ability so that one day I can live out my retirement in James Herriot fashion.

Staff Member 3

Noah Brown

Hey everyone! My name is Noah Brown and I’m a first-year sophomore from Yakima, Washington. I am currently a computer science major, but I could honestly have picked from nine other degrees. When not writing articles for the Collegian, I love playing guitar, reading books, playing pickleball, or doing absolutely nothing. Email me at noah.brown@wallawalla.edu if you like my work, or if you don’t, I won’t judge you. Probably.

Staff Member 4

Cascadia Schneider

Hello everyone! My job at the Collegian is to act as the lead designer for all our bigger projects, including the look of the Collegian print issue which publishes once a month. This job allows me to dabble in all my favorite graphic design work, such as layout design, logo design and editing. I am also blessed to be on the Collegian’s editorial board, working with a wonderful team to help make the Collegian everything it is and more.

Staff Member 5

Stephen Hamann

Hello! My name is Stephen Hamann (most people call me Stevie), and I am this year’s Collegian Layout Designer, which means I get to work on designing the print issue that gets passed out every quarter. I am a Filipino-American freshman all the way from Wisconsin (known for cheese, the Green Bay Packers, and for being one of those states people forget exists), and I am studying Civil Engineering here at WWU. After WWU my goal is to eventually become a Civil Engineer for the Wisconsin State Department of Transportation, but we will see where God leads me. When I’m not working for the Collegian, studying, or overly obsessing about civil engineering oddities (like why Oregon doesn’t have the word ‘Limit’ in their speed limit signs. OR, for real? Why are you confusing everyone?), I love to play cello and/or piano, draw, bike, and travel to anywhere new.

Staff Member 6

Cameron Fowler

Hello everyone! My name is Cameron and I’m a third-year English major, Psych minor and am proud to be back for my second year on the paper! I am the creator behind the murder mystery series “Shirley H. and the Connected Crimes”, and after a prolonged hiatus I’m back to pick up where I left off at. If you catch me outside of working on another installment I’d be down to chat about anything, from video games to anime to spaghetti. I hope you have a great day!

Staff Member 6

Aine SchmidtWeiss

Hey y’all! I’m Aine, and I have been the Managing Editor at the Collegian for three years! I’m a senior nursing student who is passionate about reading, writing, and all things editorial. While I step in to write the occasional article, I mostly work with our writing team and editorial board to ensure we are a well-oiled machine! If you don’t find me cramming for my next nursing exam, memorizing lab values, or in clinical, you’ll find me on the Portland trails for a run, crocheting with a good audiobook on, reading Mary Oliver and Adrienne Rich, or even swimming in an icy cold Oregon river!

Staff Member 6

Ana Segawa

Hey everyone!! My name is Ana, I was born and raised in Brazil and my first language is Portuguese. I come from a very diverse background, since I’m half Spanish and half Japanese. I’m a freshman Pre-Dent student majoring in Business. I love reading books, both fiction and nonfiction; I listen to music 24/7, especially R&B; I’m always down to go get coffee; and I love taking pictures of pretty much everything for the memories, or taking pictures of the sky simply because I think it looks pretty.

Staff Member 1

Kole GreyEyes

Hello! My name is Kole GreyEyes (no, my eyes are not actually gray), and I’m one of the copy editors this year. I’m a sophomore psychology and trumpet performance major with a pre-law minor. Outside of all that, I am also an RA. After I graduate, I’m hoping to either attend a law school or pursue trumpet further; I’m not too sure yet. Some of my hobbies include Taekwondo, basketball, sitting on my phone when I really should be studying, driving with friends to get food late at night when I really should be studying, and playing trumpet. If you see me, say hi! I probably look angry, but I assure you I am not.

Stella Ga

Hi there! My name is Stella, and I am a senior social work major with a minor in marketing. At The Collegian I work to interact with people on campus through our social media accounts. You can often see me around campus working away on Instagram (@aswwucollegian) to deliver you guys a fun and fresh feed, putting on Village Club events, or working in the Residence Halls. My team and I make all the student spotlights, so if you are interested in being highlighted, please reach out and don’t be shy to say hi!

Atheris Seals

Hello all, I am Atheris Seals, The Collegian Head Copy Editor. You may have seen me scuttling around Rigby as a reclusive Biology major or snapping pics of squirrels on the way to class. I will likely edit until the end of time, though getting to do some research would be fantastic. If you’re in need of a peer review it will only cost a cup of coffee. Contact me at emily.seals@wallawalla.edu for questions or edits.

Dilraj Kaur

Hello hello!! My name is Dilraj, and I am the Collegian Web Manager. My responsibility is to upload the weekly articles on the Collegian page. I am a junior and a computer science major with a minor in business. Some things that I like to do when I am free are listening to music, trying new food recipes, going on long drives, and spending time with friends and family. My goal is to make an impact wherever I choose to work with my passion for technology.

Staff Member 1

Ashley Davila

Oh heyyy! My name is also Ashley, and I am the assistant editor which means I do random tasks. As an elementary education major, I love working with people and the Collegian allows me to do so. Darya Munroe

Hey, I’m Darya (Dee) Munroe and I am one of the Social Media Editors for this year’s Collegian team. I’m a fine art major alongside being a minor in Business Administration with aspirations of becoming a high school art teacher one day. This year, I am the president for The Factory, which is WWU’s Visual Art Club. I spend most of my time in the studios painting, playing sports, or drinking hot chai teas (even in the peak of summer.) Amongst all of these fun facts, the most fascinating one is that I have the capability to take long naps in the middle of the day (:

Megan Olfert

Hi there, I’m Megan, you can call me meg too. I'm a business marketing major, psychology minor. I’m originally form the Cali Coast down in San Diego but have spent most of my life growing up in the center of the Appalachian Mountain range (aka) the state of West Virginia which has been home the past give or take, fourteen years. The West Coast and East Coast are very different from a geographical standpoint and the people that live there. To say the least the east coast has its beauty, but the PNW has my heart and I love the people here even more. That brings me to my hobbies which definitely include anything with people or the outdoors, I love meeting new people, listening to their stories, and just having a good time. This year I am working with the Collegian social media team highlighting you and your stories! After all, God put us on this beautiful planet to have a good time and spread his love to each other through our own stories and experiences, right?? I think yes. Outside of work and school, I’m always down for a fun adventure, and good laugh. I love scuba diving, climbing, running, and all water or board sports, tell me when and where, I’m there. I love it all. But mostly, at the core of everything is how we intentionally live our lives and outside of our hobbies, we intentionally connect with others through our stories and experiences which is what I can’t wait to hear all yours! See ya around campus. 😊

Danyah Morales

Hello! My name is Danyah Morales. I am an exercise science major, and this is my first year writing for The Collegian. I am from Oaxaca, Mexico. I decided to become a writer to be more involved in campus life and to improve my overall writing skills. You may have seen me running around campus trying to make it to class on time. It's easy to know whenever I am near by the clinking of the keychains hanging from my backpack. In my free time I enjoy collecting figurines and watching sad movies.
